AZC poruka

Standing in solidarity with our sisters from the U.S.A., we – women, activists, feminists in Serbia – will head out to protest in the streets because we don’t want to be silent witnesses at this time when the incoming president of the leading power in the world is getting ready to implement a violently sexist, woman-hating, homophobic, xenophobic, and racist ideology which he promoted during his whole campaign. Confronted by these signals that were sent to all forward thinking women and men around the world, we decided to organize the Women’s March against Fascism in Belgrade!

Protest name: Women’s March against Fascism
Place of assembly: Pioneer Park
Route: The march will end at the square in front of St. Sava’s temple. It will start from the Pioneer Park, proceed through Kneza Milosa street to the Government building, then Nemanjina street to Slavija, and up Oslobodjenje Boulevard to St. Sava’s temple.
Time of assembly: 11:45 am (march starts at 12:00 pm).
Protest duration: 2 hours at most

mars zena 1

mars zena 3On January 21st our place is out protesting in the streets, as it always is. We stand in solidarity with feminists from the U.S.A., as we stood in solidarity with women from Kurdistan, Iraq, Palestine, Kosovo, Bosnia and Herzegovina, France and many other places...

We stand in solidarity with women, because our voices are never heard clearly enough. We stand in solidarity with each other and against the hateful policies of the far-right that will be further emboldened by the new U.S. president – in the whole world, and Serbia as well. And this is something we’ve seen before!

We cannot remain silent while men’s states and churches around the world are making arrangements regarding who has the right to make decisions on women’s bodies. Abortion is a fundamental women’s right and this march advocates for resistance to the policies of the far-right which, the world over, first attack women’s rights and then the rights of all other disempowered  groups. We call on LGBT organizations, Roma organizations, media employees, unions, workers, all who are in disadvantaged positions, to join us and show resistance to politics of hate, and to march for freedom, human rights and dignity.

Mass protests are being organized on the same day: the Women’s March in the U.S.A, in Australia, Canada, Europe and elsewhere. More information on sister marches can be found at: https://www.womensmarch.com/sister-marches/
