The Women against violence network is inviting citizens to join the support and solidarity rally for Marija Lukić and all the women who have experienced sexual violence
Friday 21st of February 2020
in Kruševac in front of the Basic court building at 10.45am
As the activists of the Women against violence network, we are carefully observing the trial of Milutin Jeličić Jutka, the former president of municipality of Brus who has been accused of the crime sexual harassment and abusing his position of authority. By attending the trial proceedings, we are showing our full support for Marija Lukić, on whose criminal charge Jeličić is being prosecuted.
We are aware how hard it is for women who have experienced any kind of sexual abuse to speak up, in Serbia and/or anywhere else in the world. We are aware of the trauma that all of those women live through repeatedly while talking about her experience. With great attention and empathy, we listened on the last trial proceedings, in the late January, to the statement of Snežana Bojić, one of Marija witnesses. Moreover, Snežana was one of six women who have also made an accusation against Jeličić, for the same charges, but the Public Defender dismissed them as unfounded.
We are expressing great respect for Marija Lukić and Snežana Bojić and we are admiring their bravery and their fight for dignified lives of all women. We are telling them they are not alone and that we will once again be standing in front of the Basic court building in Kruševac, for all the other women who have survived sexual violence, regardless if they have spoken up about it or haven’t dared to.
We invite the citizens of Serbia to join us and condemn violence against women in the rally in Kruševac, in other public places, on social media, everywhere and always!
JUSTICE FOR MARIJA LUKIĆ!
JUSTICE FOR SNEŽANA BOJIĆ!
JUSTICE FOR ALL THE WOMEN WHO HAVE EXPIRENCED SEXUAL VIOLENCE!
